The SM 1273-50 indexing plungers together with SM 1002 positioning bushes similar to DIN 172 / DIN 179 enable precise positioning.
The bushes are used to guide the bolt and for the detent hole.
Longer guide lengths also increase precision.

Design and assembly instructions
There are two bolt lengths l₁ for each indexing plunger Ø d₁.
The length l₃ must ensure complete disengagement of the indexing plunger.
The bushing length, plate thickness and any gap can be selected within certain limits.
To accommodate the positioning bushes (outer Ø with tolerance n6), a locating bore with a tolerance of
a locating bore with tolerance H7 is usually provided.

Form C with detent lock is used if the detent pin should not protrude temporarily.
The knob is rotated by 90° after the locking pin has been retracted and held in this position by a locking notch.

The length l7 is determined by the penetration depth of the indexing plunger into the cone of the bushing. The length l8 must ensure that the locking pin disengages completely. The bushing length, plate thickness and any gap can be selected within certain limits.When engaged, the pin must have at least 0.5 mm residual stroke so that the conical part of the pin is seated in the cone of the positioning bush without play. Safe residual stroke: l9 = l1 - 0.5 mm.A locating bore with tolerance H7 is usually provided to accommodate the positioning bushes (outer Ø with tolerance n6).
